This map of Panem offers a chilling look at the nation’s geography. With the Capitol nestled in the Rocky Mountains (possibly near present-day Colorado), the surrounding Districts form a web of controlled resources — from District 12’s coal to District 4’s fishing and District 11’s agriculture.

At the fringes lies “The Wilds,” rumored to be ungoverned territories — perhaps the last shred of freedom outside the Capitol’s grip.

Life in the Districts

Each district specializes in an industry vital to the Capitol’s survival, yet the citizens live in oppression, poverty, and constant surveillance. The Capitol’s extravagance contrasts starkly with the starvation and labor endured in places like District 12.

The fear is enforced through the Hunger Games, an annual televised event where 24 tributes — children from each district — are forced to fight to the death. It’s more than punishment. It’s propaganda.
